James Madison University Massanutten Hall Finance Building

Special Features

This 40,000-square-foot finance and technology office building was constructed to consolidate several high technology university departments in one central location. The building was designed and constructed to provide a highly efficient office environment.

The building is structural steel and masonry bearing with brick exterior walls. The interior walls are primarily metal stud framing and drywall with an EPDM roofing system. Site work includes storm, sanitary sewer and water line piping and reconstruction of an existing roadway. All mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems were included in the scope of work.

The Nielsen Partnership

The success of this project was a direct result of the positive relationship established among the owner, architect, and contractor. The on-time completion of this project was essential to the university’s plans for the relocation of other on-campus office buildings scheduled for demolition. This team effort resulted in the project being completed on schedule and under budget.

Senior Vice President Charles King says, “What a wonderful improvement over the space that was destroyed by fire. I appreciate Nielsen’s commitment to customer-sensitive construction and I am thankful that you rolled up your sleeves to join us in this amazing recovery process.”
