Piedmont Virginia Community College

Special Features

This project started as an infill project in the 800 wing. A multipurpose room was divided into two classrooms and the downstairs bathrooms were renovated. An auditorium was added upstairs.

Additionally, in the 800 wing the HVAC system was redone, and new ceiling tile was installed in the hallways and rooms. The south south entrance to the North Mall area has all new floor tile.

A new meeting room was added, as well as a new bookstore and student lounge area. The administration area was renovated. The largest part of the project was the electrical upgrade with fire suppression, which affected every space in the college. The upgrade included horns and lights and a fire warning system.

The Nielsen Partnership

David Thompson, facilities manager, is pleased with the project. “Nielsen’s customer service is impeccable. Every question was answered and every concern was dealt with. I have the highest regard for Carl Allen, superintendent, and Don Hicklin, project manager, and how they handled this job.
