Special Features

The Thrust Theatre project includes a three-story proscenium theatre built into the hillside of the Arts Quad adjacent to the existing Drama and Architecture buildings. A transparent curtainwall facade on the north side of the lobby fronts the existing entrance to the Culbreth Drama building. The roof of the theatre will consist of a vegetated roof terrace at the same level as the upper Arts Quad.

The principal space is a 300-seat Thrust Theatre, a “theatre-in-the-round” with audience surrounding three sides of the stage. Vormitory entrances provide performer entrances from backstage dressing rooms and the green room. The venue will accommodate theatre, dance, film, music, and lectures. The scope includes new restrooms, backstage support spaces, catwalks and control room and new lobby spaces that connect with the existing Culbreth Theatre lobby.
