Additions and alterations to Tenneco Packaging’s (PCA) Harrisonburg, Virginia, facility encompassed almost 130,000 square feet. Nielsen renovated 3,000 square feet of the main office, including the entrance, lobby, management offices, and a conference room. Additions included 16,650 square feet of warehouse space to accommodate large paper rolls used in Tenneco’s manufacturing of corrugated products, and approximately 110,000 square feet of new manufacturing space, including a new shipping and receiving area that featured 19 individual loading docks and doors.
The Nielsen Partnership
Nielsen was selected to design and build this project in two phases: fi rst, develop and provide a pre-graded site and utility package intended to expedite the construction schedule. The second phase involved civil and sitework and the building package.
Nielsen performed site grading and utility work while finalizing the building package documents and pricing. Nielsen also coordinated all deliveries of manufacturing equipment with the owner to ensure timely start-up of the new production lines. All construction work was coordinated to accommodate continued use of the existing building and minimize inconvenience to Tenneco’s staff.
This state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will allow Tenneco to take a proactive approach to growth opportunities in the new millennium.
