Baker Butler Elementary School
Baker Butler Elementary included 80,590 square feet of new construction. This included all types of elementary classrooms, lunch room, cafeteria (with kitchen equipment), media center, computer lab, art room, large gymnasium, general offices, etc. The exterior site consisted of two large parking lots, bus loop and bus canopy, two fully irrigated soccer fields with Bermuda grass, a baseball field, and three playgrounds. The exterior building skin was block and brick with a complicated metal roof system, with dormers and clear story areas.
The Nielsen Partnership
This was a very successful project. Albemarle County Schools Representative Al Reasor was very pleased with the success of the project. Both the architect and owner were appreciative of all efforts by the general contractor to deliver a quality product on time and under budget. Nielsen was proud to partner with Albemarle County Public Schools on bringing Baker Butler Elementary School to life.
