Wilbur Pence Middle School
This project consisted of an upgrade of a 1950s building, with new air conditioning, new lighting and electrical, new exterior doors, and new ceilings. New energy efficient windows were also installed. The auditorium was completely renovated. The total upgrade included 105,000 square feet.
An all new mechanical system and boilers were installed. The sewage piping was redone, the entire building was repainted, and the restrooms were renovated.
The Nielsen Partnership
Steve Reid, director of maintenance, was pleased with the project. The project actually finished ahead of schedule. He says out of the four Rockingham County middle schools, the Pence project went the best. He notes, “Nielsen did excellent work on the project.”
