Kendall at Lexington

Special Features

Constructed within a historic estate in Lexington, this beautiful retirement community encompasses over 125,000 square feet and includes 68 apartment and cottage units, 24 assisted living units, a community services building with full kitchen, formal dining, and an informal dining area and coffee shop, as well as administrative offices, meeting rooms, and activity areas.

Set into the rolling farmland, the main public space has large, curved window walls, offering beautiful views of the landscape and facilities below. Each apartment has an individual balcony, and each cottage has an individual patio with attached sunroom. Large, multi-pane windows and bright interiors give a residential feeling to the units. A unique combination of interior corridors, covered walkways, and wide connecting porch sidewalks allows covered access from all facilities on the campus.

The Nielsen Partnership

A negotiated project, Nielsen was selected as the construction partner for this project delivery team early in the schematic design phase. Working closely with the architect and owner, Nielsen provided several estimates, value analysis, and major subcontractor pre-qualification. To meet the needs of quality and schedule, Nielsen self-performed much of the concrete and carpentry work required on the project.
