Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community Crestwood
VMRC’s adult care center, “Crestwood,” fulfills the mission to provide assisted living care for VMRC’s residents. The 3-story facility includes 73,000 square feet of new construction, and provides 86 private resident rooms. Some units include separate private living rooms, and walk-in closets. Continuing the “main street” theme, each residential wing is centered around living, dining, entertainment, activity and health care support. Each wing also includes a resident laundry facility, and a resident community kitchen. A fully supported dementia wing on the first floor, with an enclosed and secure courtyard, is also part of this facility.
Other special features include a drive-through entrance portico, covered “country porch” for rocking chairs, a beautiful multipurpose room and chapel, and assisted bathing facilities on each floor.
The Nielsen Partnership
Nelsen provided value analysis, estimating, and lifecycle costing analysis throughout the design development phase of the project. Working with The Troyer Group Architects, and Harrisonburg city officials, Nielsen was able to begin phased construction of the project several months before final drawings had been completed. The commitment to “partnering” by all members of the project delivery team shortened the construction time and allowed resident move-in four months ahead of schedule.
