This project is the first phase of a multi-phased restoration of the Old Hotel and Conference Center of which Nielsen is the Design Builder. The Old Hotel which is the focal point of the facility was in desperate need of a new roof. Water filtration has occurred for many years with only temporary measures installed to deal with the water problems. At the direction of the Center’s Board of Directors, Nielsen identified the necessary tasks to eliminate the water infiltration problem.
This design build project includes a new standing seam roof, metal shingles and guttering at the fourth floor level. All the dormers and main roof received substrate repairs as required once the old materials were removed. The exterior stucco system will be repaired to eliminate damaged areas and repainted for a uniform appearance. All of the work is performed by accessing the building from a scaffolding system surrounding the structure.
In addition to the exterior improvements, the existing windows on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors will be removed, lead paint and asbestos abated, restored and finally re-installed to complete the extreme makeover. All this work is performed while the Conference Center continues operations.
